This program places mental health counselors at primary care physician offices, which gives patients at those offices convenient access to trained mental health counselors at the same time you see your doctor.
Reaching Mental Health is presently located in four sites in Greene County. Two additional sites will be available sometime in January. Ultimately, Reaching Mental Health will be available in multiple locations throughout the County.
Mental Health Screen. In each of the offices, a brief depression/anxiety screen is provided to you on your yearly visit or upon request when you visit your doctor. This screen will help determine whether you need a mental health assessment and follow-up counseling.
Assessment and Counseling: If the mental health screen indicates you may need counseling, then an appointment can be made with the mental health worker to conduct an assessment , which will help determine the nature of your mental health needs. Appointments for assessment and counseling with a mental health professional can be made through your doctor's office for the day the mental health professional is there—see table below. Arrangements can be made for counseling right in the doctor's office building. Ask your doctor if you have any questions or feel an urgent need to speak to someone about a mental health issue.
